You may have noticed that I haven’t written for months.\u00a0 This is because, frankly, I haven’t had the time.\u00a0 I’ve been putting in 13 – 16 hours a day, every day including weekends, since this semester began to create lesson plans for three different classes.\u00a0 As the weeks went on (creating curriculum one week at a time), I began to get more efficient in my lesson planning.\u00a0 I now work only 12-13 hour days and I even, “gasp,” had a day off last week.\u00a0 I am now cruising along with this teaching thing, but I’m still working every day and not for much money.<\/p>\n
This may change soon.<\/p>\n
The teacher I\u2019m subbing for has just announced that she will take another semester off. It looks like I will soon get a temporary teaching contract, which has been my goal since taking this position. Nothing is real though until I sign the contract, so I\u2019ll reserve my enthusiasm until then.<\/p>\n
Of course, my second thought was: “great, now I have to spend another semester working 13-16 hours a day,” but that’s the price of becoming a new teacher, and I’ll take that over not working.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
