{"id":808,"date":"2014-11-15T19:23:29","date_gmt":"2014-11-15T19:23:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thisplot.com\/TheNewThing\/?p=808"},"modified":"2014-11-15T19:23:29","modified_gmt":"2014-11-15T19:23:29","slug":"a-positive-direction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.thisplot.com\/TheNewThing\/2014\/11\/15\/a-positive-direction\/","title":{"rendered":"A positive direction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hi all,<\/p>\n<p>You may have noticed that I haven&#8217;t written for months.\u00a0 This is because, frankly, I haven&#8217;t had the time.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been putting in 13 &#8211; 16 hours a day, every day including weekends, since this semester began to create lesson plans for three different classes.\u00a0 As the weeks went on (creating curriculum one week at a time), I began to get more efficient in my lesson planning.\u00a0 I now work only 12-13 hour days and I even, &#8220;gasp,&#8221; had a day off last week.\u00a0 I am now cruising along with this teaching thing, but I&#8217;m still working every day and not for much money.<\/p>\n<p>This may change soon.<\/p>\n<p>The teacher I\u2019m subbing for has just announced that she will take another semester off. It looks like I will soon get a temporary teaching contract, which has been my goal since taking this position.
