This was a weird and wonderful week.\u00a0 Early in the week, I taught my son how to hit a golf ball.\u00a0 On Tuesday, we played 18 holes.\u00a0 He did pretty well for his first time out, and I did much better than I thought I would after not playing for four years.\u00a0 I mostly shot straight!\u00a0 It was a fun afternoon spent with my son and a retired couple whom we were paired-up with.\u00a0 I\u2019ll tell you though, I was sore the next day \u2013 I guess I\u2019m out of shape!\u00a0 Wednesday and Thursday, my son went to work for the first time, and seemed to enjoy the experience.\u00a0 On Friday, the whole family drove to Placerville to attend the funeral of a friend, and godfather to my son.\u00a0 Brian died early due to complications from diabetes.\u00a0 He was 49.\u00a0 It was a tear-filled funeral because Brian had led such a spectacular and high-energy life.\u00a0 He had hundreds of friends.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, early morning, we drove my son and Ralph to SFO and dropped them off.\u00a0 They are going to Ghana to set people up with wheelchairs through Joni & Friends Wheels for the World.\u00a0 It\u2019s a pretty terrific Christian\/humanitarian thing that they\u2019re doing.\u00a0 To get to Ghana, they flew to JFK, waited six hours, then flew to Accra, Ghana.\u00a0 22 hours total from airport to airport.\u00a0 I did not hear from anyone on the team, but I was watching them on my flight tracker, so I knew that they had arrived safely.\u00a0 While tracking them, I also put together a powerpoint for Sunday\u2019s kick-off of \u201cThe Story\u201d \u2013 a 31 week, church-wide, trip through the entire Bible.\u00a0 It\u2019s going to be massive.\u00a0 I was quite proud of my first powerpoint (Genesis), and it went well on Sunday.\u00a0 We had over 50 people for Adult Ed Sunday School and that never happens!\u00a0 It\u2019s nice to see so many people getting into the concept of a whole church reading the Bible together.\u00a0 Now that week one is over, It\u2019s time for me to make the other 30 powerpoints and find a collection of teachers to teach, so I don\u2019t have to do all 31 lessons.<\/p>\n
After church on Sunday, I got to meet up with my friend Jeff.\u00a0 I only see him during football season and today was the kick-off to the season, so far as we were concerned.\u00a0 San Francisco beat Green Bay in a pretty exciting game\u2026 and the right team won (San Francisco).\u00a0 Tomorrow is Jeff’s birthday, so we’ll call this game an early present.\u00a0 Go Niners!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
