This week was a bit more fun.\u00a0 While the rest of my family went to VBS all week, I did homework and group projects for school.\u00a0 We had a lot of kids at the house all week because parents still work, but their kids did VBS and then would come to our place rather than to their empty houses.\u00a0 Our house was messy and noisy much of the week as a result, but that\u2019s OK.\u00a0 One of my son\u2019s friends, Apollo, started playing my guitars, which I understand are better than his guitars.\u00a0 Turns out, he\u2019s better than me on both electric and acoustic, so I invited him to play in the band this week\u2026 and so he did.<\/p>\n
The band played behind the big curtain, just like we did last year at the end of VBS.\u00a0 It was a lot of fun for the band.\u00a0 This year, however, I would be in the congregation rather than behind the curtain.\u00a0 After church, Bill and I took down the big curtain using my 16\u2019 extension pole for solar panels and a 15\u2019 ladder.\u00a0 It was just enough for the 25\u2019 tall backdrop\/curtain.<\/p>\n
After we had completed this, my family went home.\u00a0 What the kids didn\u2019t know was that we had planned a three-day \u201cfood and wine\u201d get-away to Napa and Sonoma for my birthday.\u00a0 The kids packed quickly and then we were off.\u00a0 When we got to Napa, the first place we hit was the \u201cbest burgers in Napa\u201d joint, Andie\u2019s Caf\u00e9.\u00a0 I think the press was right \u2013 awesome burgers.\u00a0 We then proceeded to the nearby Napa Premium Outlet.\u00a0 We window shopped a lot.\u00a0 The kids and I had a demonstration of some of Bose\u2019s new gadgets.\u00a0 Right before we left, my son bought a $260. Leather jacket for $60.\u00a0 Now that\u2019s a savings!\u00a0 After we left there, we went to the Oxbow Market, which was a lot smaller than we thought it would be.\u00a0 We dropped our stuff off at the Wine Valley Hotel, our hotel for the next few days, then went to a WONDERFUL tapas style dinner at Carpe Diem Wine Bar.\u00a0 I highly recommend this place.\u00a0 Even with all the food we ate (and champagne I drank), our bill was just under $100.\u00a0 What a great way to end our evening!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
