Today was sort of different: my family took off to the river today with many friends.\u00a0 This left me at home all day today, which was fine because I had to read an entire book \u2013 yes, an entire book \u2013 for class tomorrow.\u00a0 Fortunately, it was a pretty good read.\u00a0 The book was \u201cFifth Chinese Daughter,\u201d the story of a Chinese girl brought up in San Francisco\u2019s Chinatown in the 1920s \u2013 40s.\u00a0 She found herself living in two distinct cultures and had to balance between the two.\u00a0 Tomorrow, I will present this book to my multicultural class.\u00a0 The class, by the way, is pretty good.\u00a0 I\u2019m now three weeks away from finishing the class, and graduating.\u00a0 In the background, I\u2019m also greasing the path for a quick turn-around on my credential so I\u2019ll have it in hand by the start of the school year.\u00a0 It may not matter though, so far, I haven\u2019t had an interview for a job.\u00a0 Still, you never know what will happen as school approaches.\u00a0 Jobs open up suddenly due to unexpected enrollment shifts and sudden departures by teachers.<\/p>\n
So, getting back to my day\u2026 as I was having lunch and about to start a movie (to take a break from reading), my main contract employer called asking me for a quick turn around on a chip.\u00a0 Suddenly, I spent two hours modifying a chip and getting it taped-out.\u00a0 I had not planned on that.\u00a0 I still watched my movie, though I shouldn\u2019t have due to time constraints, and was still able to finish my book by the time my family got home at 11PM.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
