Over the weekend, we played a lot of video games as a family.\u00a0 I also did all my homework (yeah!) so I\u2019m caught up.\u00a0 I also concluded my Advent Conspiracy class at church.\u00a0 We may do this class every year, as it focuses us all on what\u2019s important during this Christmas Season: loving God and loving our fellow man (especially those in need).\u00a0 The big news over the weekend is that we will have a new pastor!\u00a0 We\u2019ve been searching for three years, so we\u2019re all really happy.<\/p>\n
Today, I subbed for a teacher in one of the academy programs at the high school.\u00a0 The class was called \u201cbusiness,\u201d but really, it was all about computers.\u00a0 Since the teacher called in late and was actually sick, there was no lesson plan.\u00a0 No problem!\u00a0 I figured that since I\u2019ve spent 30 years as a businessman in the semiconductor industry, I\u2019d have plenty to talk about.\u00a0 I also had a powerpoint presentation in my pocket about my college life, the jobs I\u2019ve had, and how it all culminated in the high paying tech job I wound up in.\u00a0 The presentation lasted most of the class period.\u00a0 After four classes, my voice was almost gone, but you know what \u2013 I had a great time in these classes!\u00a0 The students were excellent and inquisitive and courteous \u2013 all the things I look for\u2026 and the reason why I want to teach at the college level.\u00a0 Well, now I can add \u201cacademy\u201d to my list of desirable positions.\u00a0 The academy, apparently, has the best teachers and the best students.\u00a0 After today, I believe it.<\/p>\n
Alas, by the end of the day, I was also feeling the effects of an oncoming cold.\u00a0 Looks like I\u2019m going to be sick.\u00a0 I\u2019d better stay home tomorrow.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
