{"id":158,"date":"2012-10-03T15:07:47","date_gmt":"2012-10-03T15:07:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thisplot.com\/TheNewThing\/?p=158"},"modified":"2012-10-05T15:08:42","modified_gmt":"2012-10-05T15:08:42","slug":"158","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.thisplot.com\/TheNewThing\/2012\/10\/03\/158\/","title":{"rendered":"An incredibly busy day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wow, what a week so far!\u00a0 I\u2019ve been so busy that I haven\u2019t had time to write (or, more correctly, haven\u2019t made the time to write).<\/p>\n<p>Monday, was what I hoped would be my final push for stock analysis.\u00a0 I do this every quarter, and Monday was 10\/1.\u00a0 I did not come close to finishing.\u00a0 I also had several hours of homework to do.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday was another attempt to get stock analysis done.\u00a0 I also had homework.\u00a0 The \u201cbig event\u201d of the day though was visiting the hospital.\u00a0 My doctor had asked me to go in to have my blood work done.\u00a0 This worked out great because Barbara\u2019s school also has a new policy that if you are a volunteer for a field trip (as I will be in two weeks), you now need a TB test.\u00a0 The reason for this is because of the huge influx of Indian immigrants.\u00a0 India has a high rate of TB.\u00a0 While I was getting shot, I also got my flu shot.<\/p>\n<p>It was a fasting blood test, and I didn\u2019t go in until 9:30.\u00a0 Man, was I hungry!\u00a0 It had been 18 hours since my last meal.\u00a0 Strangely enough, when I got home from all these shots, I wasn\u2019t very hungry.\u00a0 That evening, I got my results.\u00a0 Steady progress!\u00a0 I\u2019m getting better in all areas.\u00a0 I guess this diet and exercise stuff actually works!<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday was spent zooming around.\u00a0 I had breakfast with friends, as I always do on Wednesday mornings.\u00a0 While at breakfast, someone sprayed my car with some very stinky fertilizer-type product.\u00a0 This was done on purpose (I guess they had an issue with me or my Porsche).\u00a0 The stuff reeked so much that I washed the car immediately upon returning home; that, and I was worried that such a product would ruin the paint.\u00a0 Well yeah, I now have a shiny car.\u00a0 About the time I finished that, it was time for my dentist appointment.\u00a0 The cleaning went fine, but they found a crack on one of my teeth brought about by an old filling.\u00a0 They scheduled me for a re-filling tomorrow.\u00a0 I went home, ate lunch, and then went out to the district office of education to get fingerprinted so I could become a substitute teacher.\u00a0 That went smoothly, but then I noticed that my breaks began to fail on the way home.\u00a0 I knew they were due for replacement soon, but I was waiting for the \u201csqueak\u201d that announced the fact.\u00a0 I could replace the breaks myself, but I also know that the rotors need grinding, and I don\u2019t want to do that.\u00a0 I\u2019ll take it into the shop tomorrow.\u00a0 Oh ya, over the weekend, I filled my car with Freon.\u00a0 It was about time \u2013 I had spent all summer roasting in my car.\u00a0 The weekend had temps up towards 100 so I decided that it was time.\u00a0 Well, I still had a leak somewhere, so I bought a can of stop-leak.\u00a0 On the way home, my breaks failed while waiting at a stoplight on a slight decline.\u00a0 I had to use my hand break to stop the car from rolling into the guy in front of me.\u00a0 Yep, I would certainly need to get to the shop tomorrow.\u00a0 Shoot, and I\u2019m still not done with my stock analysis (and more homework is due tomorrow).<\/p>\n<p>One final thing: Today (Wednesday) is my dad\u2019s 78<sup>th<\/sup> birthday.\u00a0 Every spare chance I had, I attempted to call him, but without any success.\u00a0 I hope he\u2019s somewhere with mom celebrating.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wow, what a week so far!\u00a0 I\u2019ve been so busy that I haven\u2019t had time to write (or, more correctly, haven\u2019t made the time to write).
